What is TruSculpt iD?
TruSculpt iD belongs to our non-surgical body contouring treatments and is one of the devices in our wider range of laser and device treatments. It is designed to reduce localised fat deposits; it is not a weight-loss treatment and does not replace a healthy diet and regular exercise.
This page covers TruSculpt iD only. It should not be confused with truSculpt flex, a separate device from the same manufacturer that focuses on muscle sculpting rather than fat reduction. truSculpt flex is not part of this treatment; it is a separate treatment that is also available at Charisma.
How TruSculpt iD works
TruSculpt iD delivers radiofrequency (RF) energy through handpieces (probes) placed on the skin. The RF energy produces a moderate rise in temperature in the fat layer beneath the skin while the skin’s surface temperature is monitored, with the aim of breaking down fat in the treated area. Because the treatment acts on fat cells, it works differently from muscle-stimulation (EMS) treatments, which focus on muscle contraction.

The abdomen is one of the main areas treated with TruSculpt iD, particularly stubborn fat that persists despite a healthy lifestyle. Your doctor will advise which areas suit you and mark the exact zones to be treated during your session.
Who is a good candidate?
TruSculpt iD is intended for localised areas of stubborn fat rather than overall weight loss. It is used as a supportive tool alongside healthy habits, not as a replacement for them. Your doctor will confirm suitability after reviewing your medical history and physical assessment. The treatment is not suitable during pregnancy, or if you have a pacemaker or internal defibrillator, metal or electronic implants in the treatment area, an infection or tumour in the treatment area, a bleeding disorder, or a history of poor wound healing or keloid scarring.
The Charisma approach
Every TruSculpt iD journey at Charisma begins with a private doctor consultation, a physical assessment and an InBody analysis, which evaluates your body composition before your treatment plan is designed. Our doctors can also combine TruSculpt iD with other non-surgical body shaping options within a broader body contouring programme when appropriate.
The procedure: what to expect
- Assessment – your doctor completes a physical assessment of the area.
- Preparation – the treatment area is shaved if needed and the target zones are marked.
- Treatment – customised RF probes are attached to the area and the device delivers the treatment. A session lasts about 15 to 30 minutes.
- After the session – no downtime is usually required, and you can return to most daily activities.
The number of sessions depends on your goals and the area treated, and will be confirmed by your doctor.
Results and aftercare
Some initial change may be visible soon after treatment, with results developing gradually over approximately 12 weeks as the body processes the treated fat cells. Individual results vary, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle helps preserve your body contour over time.
After your session:
- drink plenty of water;
- avoid direct heat, saunas and steam rooms for 24 to 48 hours;
- avoid vigorous exercise for 24 to 48 hours.
Safety and side effects
Side effects are usually mild and temporary, typically limited to redness or a warm sensation in the treated area. Other possible effects listed by the manufacturer include swelling, tenderness, discomfort, bruising, numbness and lumps, as well as blistering, burns, skin colour changes and scarring. Your doctor will explain all possible side effects and whether the treatment is appropriate for you before you start.
