What is Morpheus8?
Morpheus8 is a device-based form of radiofrequency microneedling, one of the laser and device treatments offered at Charisma. Microneedling creates controlled micro-channels in the skin, while the RF component delivers heat to deeper layers to remodel tissue. The thermal energy can reach depths of up to 8 mm with the body applicator, with the depth adjusted for each area treated.
How Morpheus8 works
During a session, the device delivers controlled RF heat to remodel collagen while the microneedling component triggers the skin’s natural healing response. Shallower settings are used for facial lines and acne scars; deeper settings are used for skin laxity, for example along the jawline and neck and on body areas such as the abdomen.

Who is a good candidate?
Morpheus8 may suit adults with the concerns above who want a non-surgical option, across a range of skin types and tones; darker skin tones carry a higher risk of temporary pigment changes, so settings are adjusted accordingly. Before treatment, the practitioner screens for contraindications; tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have a skin infection, an inflammatory skin condition, open wounds, a history of keloid scarring, an implanted metal device or pacemaker, or any other medical condition.

What to expect during a session
- Assessment and mapping. A certified practitioner analyses your skin and maps a treatment plan for your goals.
- Numbing. The skin is cleansed and a topical anaesthetic cream is applied 30–60 minutes beforehand to keep the treatment comfortable.
- Treatment. A full session typically takes 60 to 90 minutes.
- Afterwards. Mild redness, swelling and small pinpoint marks are expected and generally settle within 1–2 days.
Sessions and results
Charisma’s current guidance is that most patients need 2–3 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart. Results develop gradually over the weeks after treatment and usually continue to improve with each session as new collagen forms. Results vary between individuals, and your doctor will discuss realistic expectations with you.
Before and after care
- Before: avoid retinols and other potentially irritating skincare products in the days before your appointment, as advised by your practitioner.
- After: avoid direct sun exposure and follow the soothing skincare routine your practitioner prescribes.
Safety and side effects
Common, temporary effects include redness, swelling, warmth and small pinpoint marks, usually lasting 1–2 days. Less commonly, bruising, temporary pigment changes or a flare of acne or rosacea can occur, particularly in darker skin types. Rare but serious risks such as burns or scarring are possible, and your doctor will explain them during consultation. Treatment is only carried out after a qualified practitioner has checked for contraindications.
